   this thing is kinda big but it does a lot and sounds great.the only downside is that it is a cable box also built in and most of your cable companies wont activate it for you they want you to pay for their cable boxes.I called my cable company about it and they said no way cause its not ours

   A miserable attempt by Motorola to create a high-end product that would combine all worlds. Originally rolled out over 8 years ago, it is obvious that Moto is dumping old stock onto the market. Crappy stereo, passable DVD player and a 3-generations old cable receiver. This thing is HUGE. Mine broke within 12 months. Too bad, because it practically took an act of God to get my cable company to authorize the receiver. When it died the cable co. insisted that I had a box from them already (!) and that I would need to return it to them in order to get a new one. Ha - I gave them this broken hunk of junk! No HD, no DVR, no ability to even upgrade the firmware on this beast. It perhaps was relevant & cool for 6 months in 2000, but it is a relic of another project gone wrong by the folks at Motorola.

   Avoid this product at all costs!!!

   very pleased. My area does not have option of using as cable receiver box, so don’t know how that part would perform, but all other is great and hooking it up was fairly easy.

   I bought the Dcp 501 on E bay Brand New for $104.00 sent to me.I love the system.Once you sit down and get the settings right it sounds great!!I highly recomend this reciever.You wont go wrong.I use the tunner on my DVD player although the tunner on the Dcp 501 worked.It didnt respond as quickly when changing the channels as the tunner on my DVD player.Other then that its a nice unit!1

   I’ve had this remote for well over 4 years. And over those 4 years, I have thrown it across the room by accident (and sometimes not…), had my cat chew on it as a chew toy, abused it, etc.

   Yet, this remote has yet to give me one single problem. It’s an amazing remote. It just fits so well in my hand too when watching TV. Controls almost any TV I’ve ever owned (RCA, Zenith, Vizio, Samsung are what I’ve used them on)

   Never changed the batteries in the remote. So it does well on batteries (The original Phillips batteries are still inside)

   The best remote I’ve ever owned.

   This has got to be the worst remote control I’ve ever owned. I’ve gone throgh 5 in the last three years. I’ve experienced everything from a single button quitting to the entire remote failing. Absolutely horrible quality.

   Yes, the cable co. will provide so many before they charge you, so I bought a couple. They synched up fine with the tv, but never with the cable box. I tried the codes provided and the code search but no luck. So they remain useless in the shipping bag.

   I’m not too sure about other Comcast Market areas, but my local Comcast gives this remote out free to local customers.

   Why buy this remote, honestly?

   Don’t get me wrong, it works very well with the comcast digital boxes and other services, but, again….why pay for it. Just stop by the Comcast office and pick one up, if you need one.

   If your going to by a universal remote, I definitely don’t recommend PURCHASING A CABLE PROVIDER’S BRANDED REMOTE. Get a remote that’s not affilated with a cable or dish company and you’ll definitely get more bang for you buck.
